Community Interest Groups

It all begins with an idea and community energy. Some of the community groups were formed at the local IU organised Community Forum held in 2019 and grew organically through community passion. If you’ve got an idea and need help connecting with others get in touch with Imagine Uraidla. Road safety, playground upgrade, cycling routes and a community waste water project have all been discussed and need champions. Is this you?

Imagine Uraidla Climate Action & Renewable Energy (IU Care)

With a vision for all things sustainability and climate related this group has delivered some sifting outcomes already. Movie screenings, Championing Plastic Free Precinct Status for Uraidla and district and implementing a community energy scheme (solar and battery). The group is looking into an EV charging station on the main street and a community energy sharing project.

Guerilla Gardeners

Gardening with a cause, this group meets regularly to spruce up public places with native plantings, weeding, mulching and tidy-ups. They have successfully received a grant to plant spaces along the main street. Always looking for new recruits to help get in touch to come along. This is a great group for getting outdoors and connecting with locals.
